MONDAY 12th SEPTEMBER — SECTION OF THE MONTH (SOTM) – “THE TOM”
The set piece for this month was “Little Innocent Lamb”, an American spiritual. It was part of a collection found at Oak Grove, Nth Carolina on the 4th April 1926 and was arranged and edited by Marshall Bartholomew who was the Director of the Yale Glee Club from 1921-1953.
“The Tom” has found its way back to the 2nd Tenors. As the image shows, Ges Hogg is more than delighted to take charge of “The Tom”, from Neil Toyne. The winplaces 2nd Tenors, and the Basses with equal bragging rights, at two wins apiece.
The next set piece is the poignant work “The Prayer of The Children”. This is a song that has its nexus during the Balkans conflict of the 1990’s, and certainly resonates with the imagery of pain and suffering shown in the faces of children everywhere, wherever conflict is present.
